Karumba exporting prawns, barra, mudcrabs, zinc

sun on the horizon at Karumba
10mins later sun disappears
this is the chemist, typical shop front all shops, the same.
To look at this place on the surface you woudn't know anything was going on here at all....but dig deeper and we find that 24 tonnes of fish is barged to Cairns every week and then flown out to points in Sydney and Asia.  The prawns are snap frozen the mud crabs are flown on ice and live.

Concentrates from Century mine are transported via a 304 klm underground slurry pipeline to this facility at Karumba. Century's 5000 tonne vessel MV Wunma transports the concentrate to export ships anchored off shore in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
